Print on Demand for Europe and the USA: Two Sites

Print on Demand for Europe and the USA: One Provider, Two Production Sites

In short: If you have customers in Europe and in the USA, you need a print-on-demand provider that produces on both continents itself. MarketPrint prints in Mindelheim (Germany) for Europe and in Houston, Texas for the USA. The system picks the site for each order automatically, based on the shipping address. You don't need to create any new products for this.

Why the Production Site Matters So Much

Print on demand means: a product only gets printed and shipped once someone buys it in your shop. Where that happens decides three things your customers notice right away:

  1. Delivery time. A shirt shipped from Europe to the USA is often on the road much longer than one printed in the same country.
  2. Customs and fees. Cross-border shipments can trigger import duties. In the worst case, your customer pays extra at delivery, and that costs you reviews.
  3. Shipping costs. International shipping costs more than domestic shipping. It eats into your margin or scares people off at checkout.

The simple rule: Produce where your customers live.

How Fast Is It Really?

At MarketPrint, we aim for a delivery time of 3 business days, in Europe just like in the USA. That works because both sites produce close to your customers: a package for Texas is printed in Texas and doesn't have to cross the Atlantic first.

We explain exactly how that time adds up in How Fast Is Print on Demand?.

Start Selling in the USA in 4 Steps

  1. Add a payment method for the USA. In the MarketPrint app under "Payment provider (US)". If you have several shops, select the right shop first.
  2. Check the products with a US flag. In the catalog, a small flag shows which products are available in the USA. Use the "USA" filter to see only those.
  3. Set your prices in US dollars. US prices are net prices, and DTF printing is already included.
  4. Done. When someone in the USA buys, Houston prints. When someone in Europe buys, Mindelheim prints.

You'll find all the details on products, prices and shipping in the USA Guide.

What to Keep in Mind

  • DTG becomes DTF in the USA. If you sell products with DTG printing in Europe, US orders are automatically printed with DTF. The result looks different, not worse. Learn more about the methods in our post on DTG Printing.
  • Product range. There are currently more than 20 products in the USA, including the bestselling VACANCY collection. More are on the way.
  • Shipping costs. You'll find the current prices for Europe under Shipping Costs.

Who This Is For

  • Shops with customers in Europe and the USA that currently ship everything from one country.
  • Brands that want to grow in the USA without building their own warehouse or adding a second provider.
  • Shops running ads in several countries where long delivery times drag down their reviews.
